10 December 2013: Melbourne, Australia - Aggreko, the global leader in the supply of temporary power and temperature control has signed a deal with PNG Power Ltd (PPL) that will see it lease 10 megawatts (MW) to the Moitaka Power Station, part of the Port Moresby System.
The Temporary Power Rental Agreement was signed off by PPL Chief Executive Officer, John Tangit and Aggreko Head of Operations for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Phillip Lendich in Papua New Guinea.
The purpose of the deal is to increase the power capacity of the city and minimise the incidence of power outages in Port Moresby following an increase in demand for electricity in the region.
“Aggreko has a strong relationship with PPL, having worked together on a number of projects dating back to 1997. We believe this new power solution will be instrumental for the continued growth and development of Port Moresby and Papua New Guinea,” said Phillip Lendich.
The Agreement will see the first 5MW installed on December 6th, with the remaining 5MW installed on December 23rd.
